One address for everything — questions, bug reports, privacy requests, safety concerns, appeals, intimate-image removal and copyright notices:
Every email is read by a person. A reply to a general question usually takes a few days. There is no call center and no automated reply.
Replies come from growevolve.business@gmail.com — please check your spam folder.
In danger right now? Cloister is not an emergency service. In the United States, call 911. If you are thinking about suicide or hurting yourself, call or text 988, or chat at 988lifeline.org.
What helps us answer faster
- Your Cloister username.
- Your phone model and its operating system version (iOS or Android).
- What you did and what happened — a screenshot helps.
Common questions
Who can read what I write?
Everyone signed in to Cloister can read your entries, except accounts you have blocked or that have blocked you. Other people see your username, not your real name. Entries are not published on the open web. Details: Privacy Policy, section 3.
Can I change yesterday's page?
No. You can edit only today's page; a new page opens at midnight. You can delete a past page at any time.
Can I change my username?
No. Your username is chosen when you sign up and can't be changed afterwards. If you want a different one, delete your account (Settings → Delete account) and sign up again. Deleting removes your entries, follows and messages, and your old username is held back from everyone for 90 days.
Why won't my page publish?
Cloister checks pages for phone numbers, email addresses and street addresses in common formats. If it finds one, the page can't be posted; the app tells you what it found, and «Remove it» takes those details out in one tap. Unusual spellings can slip past the check, so please keep details that identify you out of your pages.
Pages and messages also can't contain certain words and phrases that are never allowed on Cloister, for example slurs. If that happens, the app asks you to put it in your own words. See our Community Guidelines.
How do I stop people from messaging me?
Turn off Receive messages in Settings. Nobody can send you new messages, including people you have talked with before, and others see your «Send message» button as unavailable.
How do I block or report someone?
You can report an entry, a profile or a message from inside the app, and block someone from their profile or from your conversation with them. «Report and block» does both at once. The person you report is never told who reported them. An account you block can't see your profile or your pages, follow you, or message you.
How do I delete my account?
In the app: Settings → Delete account. You can choose Delete in 30 days: your profile and pages are hidden right away, and if you sign in again with the same Apple or Google account within 30 days you can restore everything. Or choose Delete now: your profile, entries, follows, blocks and settings are deleted right away, and so are your conversations — for the other person too. Deleting your account doesn't cancel an App Store or Google Play subscription; cancel it in your Apple Account settings (iPhone) or in Google Play (Android). What is kept for safety or legal reasons, and for how long, is listed in our Privacy Policy, sections 9 and 10.
I can't open the app. How do I delete my account?
You can ask us to delete it without the app. See Delete your Cloister account.
What happens after my free month?
Your first 30 days are free, with no card needed. After that, reading and writing on Cloister — including your own pages — needs a subscription, monthly or yearly, bought through the App Store or Google Play. Nothing you wrote is deleted, and you can always delete your pages (Settings → My pages) or your account without subscribing. Details are in our Terms of Use, section 8.
Something was decided about my account and I disagree
Email us within 30 days with your username and what happened. A person will review it and reply. See our Community Guidelines.
Intimate images shared without consent
If an intimate image or video of you, real or digitally created, has been shared on Cloister without your consent — including as a link — email growevolve.business@gmail.com. You don't need a Cloister account, and someone authorized to act for you can also ask. Include your signature (typing your full name is enough), where it is on Cloister (for example the username and the date of the entry), a short statement that you believe in good faith it was shared without your consent, and how we can reach you.
We remove valid requests as soon as possible and no later than 48 hours after we receive them. Full details: Terms of Use, section 10.
Copyright notices (DMCA)
